treasuring your word
Came across this verse this morning in my daily devotional (Christ in Our Home):
"I will treasure your word in my heart, so that I may not sin against you."--Psalm 119:11
I'm not very good at the "treasure your word in my heart" part. It's much easier to focus on other components of my own agency -- i.e., I will single-handedly change the way I do X, Y, and Z, overhaul this bad habit and never waste time like that again. This invariably works reallllly well. The psalmist here points toward a different component of my agency -- my capacity to listen, acknowledge, and take to heart, trusting that the guidance I receive will be Good. Well worth my energy and concentration this week.
