neighborhood

My home office is perfectly sited to accidentally-on-purpose overhear all sorts of neighborhood child fun.  A few minutes back the kid asked if she could "play out front with D.," the 5-year-old girl from next door.  I just sat down to check my email, though, and discovered what looks like a significant percentage of the Crater Elementary lower grades in our side garden, plus one preschooler trailing slightly behind (almost there, O.!  Just one more year!).

I am thankful.  Thankful for children still happy to play with the leaves in the birdbath the neighbors placed along the border of our house.  Thankful for imagination and tree-climbing and small children wearing large bicycle helmets.

Thankful one kid just informed another the berries growing up through the old trailing roses aren't edible.

Thankful for all of this, wreathed in falling leaves and floppy hydrangea bushes and fresh Northwest air.  God's sweet creations, being their goofball selves, all in the midst of God's Creation.  Happy Friday!
