thankful thursday

This week I'm thankful for:

* great archival material!
* a beautiful view of Mount Hood as I was leaving the archives, reminding me in the midst of some significant life-path frustrations that remaining in my home state brings with it a multitude of blessings, as well (the above photo is not from today... that would have involved I-5 in the foreground and a great deal more snow... this one was taken at Trillium Lake a couple years ago)
* great runs with friends
* dry weather in which to enjoy great runs with friends
* brownies
* people who give us brownies for taking care of their sweet little kids
* good Sunday School discussions
* amazing 10th grade piano performances
* getting to be a hero twice in the same week, first for doing the kid's hair [insert rapturous tone] "the best you've ever done!" and second for arriving home from school drop-off this morning, seeing her "share bag" sitting on the chair, performing an abrupt about-face and presenting it to a very red-eyed little girl (and relieved teacher) 5 minutes later
* fast school commutes (see above)
