This week I am thankful for:

* happy birthday parties for the newly minted 6-year-old
* a fun birthday zoo trip and good time spent with my beautiful daughter
* the fact that she has the ability to stand here and read what I'm typing over my shoulder
* family and friends
* an opportunity to see a good friend
* Amur snow leopards
* a Packy the elephant sighting
* Bon Iver
* cake
* my new "kid approved" cookbook (if a kid has approved it, my kid has decided that things cooked from it merit her consumption)
