thankful thursday

Some weeks this is an easier exercise than others.  When the kid gets over-tired, she develops a gag reflex from Hades... this resulted in the need to forgo Vacation Bible School last night (cue heartbroken howls) and in a rather difficult night.  Just when I thought all was well this morning, a cough triggered, um, problems, so we'll see what we're actually able to do today.  Poor kid.  All she wants to do is go to Pee Wee Sports Camp and VBS.  On the plus side, I was able to turn her tears into a stunned hug and 20 pleasant minutes perusing the Disneyland Web site yesterday afternoon by spilling the beans about our summer plans.  Glad I kept that ace up my sleeve for just such an occasion!  

Giving thanks is important, though, all the time -- even when I would prefer to be able to add "child with stomach of steel" to the list.  So, this week I am thankful for...

* a happy week of swimming lessons last week

* minor league baseball (and the kid's first fireworks display afterward!)

* joyous dancing on the days we have been able to go to VBS

* Coach Dave Brown and the Pee Wee Sports Camp crew

* a sunny long-range weather forecast
* the kiddo's uproarious laughter at old Mickey Mouse cartoons we found on YouTube yesterday afternoon (she especially enjoyed this one)
* good friends
* blooming flowers on the back porch
